Our Story

Zach and Emily met 10 years ago, while they were both leading YoungLife in Charleston. Zach was leading on a team with Emily’s roommate, Kate, and would often go to their apartment for team meetings. Zach found himself spending more time at their apartment and lingering after team meetings, but not for Kate. They were Charleston’s “Jim and Pam” or “Nick and Jess”, the classic will they or won’t they?! In classic wrong place/wrong time fashion, they explored if there might be more between them than just friends before Emily was preparing to move back to Texas in 2018. They went on a few dates, realized that the timing was bad, and went their way as friends. 

They saw each other a handful of times over the next few years, including in 2021 when they spent a weekend together at a friend's wedding. The wedding photographer was a friend of Zach’s and mentioned how many cute pics she got of Zach and his girlfriend. She was talking about Emily, but they were still not dating. Not long after that weekend, Zach called Emily and asked if he could come to Austin for a weekend to once again explore if there could be something more. They did long-distance for a year while Zach was finishing up CRNA school in Charleston and Emily was working in Austin. Zach took a job in Greenville, SC and they both moved there this summer.
